Bulgaria

Bulgaria is located in southeastern Europe, in the Balkans Region. It is bathed by the Black Sea and it is bordered by Romania to the north, Serbia, and Macedonia to the west, Greece, and Turkey to the south.

 

  • Bulgaria is a land of mountains, hiking trails, ski resorts for the winter and beach resorts on the Black Sea. A blend of Western and Eastern cultures, it contains the second oldest occupied town in Europe and a relatively urban lifestyle.
  • Bulgaria is the oldest country in Europe, 
  • The oldest gold treasure in the world has been found on the territory of Bulgaria, at a burial site to the west of Varna city, close to the Black sea shore.
  • Bulgaria is an EU member since 2007, however, it isn’t part of the Schengen treaty. Together with Romania, they are the only EU countries that aren’t part of it, yet! This means that even if you are from the EU you’ll need your ID to enter Bulgaria.
